Community Wellbeing

Big Yellow Umbrella's (BYU) Community Wellbeing programs provides a wide range of services to residents and their families living in the Macarthur Local Government Area (LGA) and surrounds.
BYU works in partnership with a number of Macarthur based organisations to deliver quality programs and Big Yellow Umbrella delivers quality programs and activities for all members of the community.

MONDAY'S

  • Tai Chi is a meditative, low impact form of exercise that involves slow and controlled movements.  It has many health benefits including improved balance and coordination, strengthens bone density, relieves the effects of stress, helps with arthritis pain, plus much more.

    When: Monday's 1.00 pm - 2.00 pm

  • A FREE weekly opportunity for young people aged 12-18 to meet with a Youth Worker, spend time with friends, socialise and access support in a safe, inclusive space.

    When:  Monday's 3.00 pm - 5.30 pm

  • Every week on a Monday, we run a FREE food relief program from our Yellow Hampers collection point in the Narellan Library forecourt.  Everyone, of any age and of any situation can attend.  Call us to register on 4647 1283.

  • SSI is a provider of Disability Employment Services (DES), the Australian Government’s employment service that helps people with a disability, injury or health condition to find work and keep a job.  Referrals given to multicultural services and refugee support.  Call 02 8713 9200 for appointments.

  • Calling on all parents and kids to come and join us at the new Learn and Bounce program running in terms 1 & 2 only.  We will have lots of fun playing ball games & learning new skills with a fun activity circuit. ( This program is targeted towards parents/ carers of 0-5 year olds to connect with your children through play).

  • Use Therapeutic Art to express yourself and make new connections in a  safe, non-judgmental environment, with a facilitator that lives within your community.

  • Big Yellow Umbrella's case management process is whereby we work collaboratively to support children, young people, adults and their families/carers.  Case management involves intake, assessment, case planning, referral to appropriate services, monitoring and review.

    The Energy Accounts Payment Assistance (EAPA) Scheme is funded by the NSW Government and administered by the Division of Energy, Water and Portfolio Strategy. The purpose of the EAPA Scheme is to help customers who are experiencing a financial crisis or emergency and need help to pay their home electricity and/or natural gas (energy) bills to avoid disconnection. The Scheme is designed to help these customers stay connected to essential energy services. It is a crisis scheme and not intended to offer ongoing income support.

    The Sydney Water Payment Assistance Scheme (PAS) helps Sydney Water customers pay their water bill when they’re in financial crisis. Sydney Water customers experiencing financial difficulties who own and occupy their property and private tenants are eligible for PAS (social housing tenants are not eligible). PAS credit is not available for customers who own more than one property, but we have other support available. Social housing tenants should contact their housing provider.

    If you need help lodging your tax return, you may be eligible for the Tax Help program.  Tax Help is a network of ATP-trained and accredited community volunteers who provide a free and confidential service to help people complete their tax returns online using myTax.

  • Referrals for this service are available by appointment only.

    Ongoing therapeutic interventions and coordination of clinical services for those with severe and persistent mental illness that significantly impacts social, personal and work life. A Credentialed Mental Health Nurse will provide regular reviews, medication monitoring, physical healthcare information and liaison with carers and relevant mental health support services for free as required. A GP mental health treatment plan must be developed within one month of commencing the service.
