1 October 1952 - 8 September 2022

Steve was recognised as a life member at Big Yellow Umbrella in 2021 after volunteering for 3 years with the service.

He had been instrumental in supporting the executive team to review and draft over 30 new policies, procedures, staff performance appraisal and a management committee 360 review. In particular, through last year he worked on the new constitution that was presented in October 2022. This went through uncontested which we know would have given Steve a great sense of achievement.

Over the years with us Steve had volunteered for and developed numerous programs in conjunction with the team, including fundraising initiatives like Trivia Nights and our first Charity Golf Day. He planned the outings for our Cultural Tours including making all destination bookings and even drove the bus himself.

Steve worked with our team to develop an Employment skills workshop drawing on his corporate expertise and mentored staff to deliver this with confidence.

Steve was present in the office until March 2020 where at this time he conducted a safety audit of all products used at BYU and had electrical items tagged. He then commenced volunteering from home during Covid 19 where he reached out to help with administrative tasks with the bonus of giving him something to do whilst in isolation.

We honoured Steve at our 2023 charity golf day, for his dedication and professionalism to us here at Big Yellow Umbrella. His contribution has ensured that BYU has even better systems and organisation governance documents in place.

Joan was involved and volunteered in most of the Camden area groups such as Girl Guides, CWA, Quilters Group, Mt Annan Botanic Gardens, Camden area Family History, Camden Historical Society and the Tourism Centre. Joan was also a regular visitor to Camden Council meetings. Her laughter and common sense will be greatly missed.
